This hardwood box features a inlayed compass rose made from four different species of beautiful hardwood. As each compass rose is inlayed into the hardwood box using similar hand tools to those used 200 years ago, each compass is unique and will have slight variations. The 2 5/8" dia. compass is fully gimbaled with a solid brass gimbal set. The gimbaled brass compass is protected by a glass cover. The corners of the hardwood box have lighter hardwood splines to offer additional strength and support. The hardwood case is 4 5/8" square, 3 5/16"tall, and the compass weighs 1 pound 5 ounces.
